Progress on the Arab Development Portal
The members of the Technical Focal Team of the Arab Development Portal (ADP or Portal),
consisting of select members from the ten Arab and Regional financial institutions
that constitute the Arab Coordination Group, held several meetings during the period
October 3rd through 5th, in the Arab Fund HQ Building in Kuwait, in order to review
the progress, to date, in the development of the Portal and provide feedback to
the ADP development team on how to improve its capabilities and enhance its contents.
To date, the Portal contains over 3,300 unique indicators, and
over 29,000 records, on the various Arab countries. These indicators cover the following
twelve themes: (Banking and Finance, Demography, Education, Energy, Environment,
Gender, Health, Labor and Employment, Macro-economy, Poverty, Trade, and Water and
Food Security).
It is interesting to note that the number of monthly users of
the ADP has risen from around 1,500 users in April 2016 (the month it was launched)
to around 10 thousand users in January 2017, and to around 30 thousand users in
September 2017, maintaining an average steady growth rate of 18% per month. The
Portal aims to reach 100 thousand users/month by June 2018, and around 200 thousand
users/month by December 2018.
Two new themes and an advanced and more efficient search engine
will be added before the end of 2018. Additionally, emphasis will be paid to the
generation and tracking of the various Sustainable Development Goals, agreed to
by the various countries.
