Symposium on Co-Operation for International Development held in the Arab Fund HQ Building during the period 22-23 November 2015.
During the period 22-23 November 2015, a symposium was held in the Arab Fund HQ Building to discuss co-operation for international development between the members of the Arab Coordination Group and the international regional financial institutions. The participants discussed matters and issues of common interest, with the aim of developing and strengthening cooperation between the two groups.
Several joint sessions were held to discuss the objectives of sustainable development, assistance to Arab countries during the transition period, and international participation to achieve active cooperation in development.
Bi-lateral sessions were also conducted to discuss specific issues to re-inforce co-operation and joint efforts between the members of the Arab Coordination Group and international funding agencies in development-related efforts.
In particular, the areas of existing co-operation between IFAD, on one hand, and the Arab Fund, Kuwait Fund, Abu Dhabi Fund, OPEC Fund, Saudi Fund and the Islamic Bank, on the other hand, were explored. The participants also reviewed IFADís future work plan for the period 2016-2018, which included their priority projects, providing support for refugees in the region, supporting the Palestine Deposit Fund, and the proposed workshop to be conducted by IFAD, in co-ordination with the Kuwait Fund, in early 2016 in order to address development goals in the region..
